Tech Insight Day – Exploring Innovation in Global Finance

ree

Students from across London and beyond took part in an inspiring Tech Insight Day with a global banking firm, where they explored how technology is reshaping the future of finance. The event offered a rare opportunity to experience the pace and creativity of a global technology environment and to learn directly from professionals driving digital change.

The morning began with breakfast and a warm welcome before students were introduced to the firm’s Global Chief Information Office. They heard how technology supports every part of a modern banking system, from safeguarding data to improving customer experiences, and how teams around the world work together to deliver innovative solutions.  Students then took part in an engaging workshop on Azure Cloud Services, discovering how cloud technology enables innovation at scale. A tour of the firm’s technology hub followed, giving everyone a behind the scenes look at the systems and infrastructure that support millions of customers across the world.

One of the highlights of the day was the Emerging Technology Masterclass delivered by Microsoft, where students explored how artificial intelligence, data science and automation are driving the next generation of digital transformation. The session encouraged them to think about how these skills will shape future careers and industries far beyond finance.

After lunch, students joined a speed networking session with engineers, analysts and technology leaders from across the firm, hearing first hand how people from different backgrounds have built careers in tech. The afternoon continued with an Agile working masterclass which showed how collaboration, flexibility and creative thinking are key to success in global teams.

The day ended with a career discussion led by senior leaders, who shared thoughtful reflections on staying curious, adapting to change, and building meaningful careers in technology. Students left feeling motivated and informed, with a stronger sense of how their interests and skills can play a part in shaping the future of tech.

Insight Days like this are an important way to help young people explore how technology connects to the world around them. They give students the confidence to ask questions, build new skills and picture the possibilities open to them. By providing these opportunities, we hope to continue inspiring curiosity and ambition in the next generation of problem solvers.

A massive thank you to our hosts and everyone involved for making the day such a success and for providing such an exciting and inspiring experience for our students.
